I can't get this to work at all. Have iMovie 08 installed on a nice new iMac I bought a few months ago. Was encouraged to upgrade to Leopard after seeing the compatibility list. However, post upgrade I still see the same thing:
- Connect HDR UX1 via usb
- Go through the camera menu to connect to the mac
- Untitled DVD icon appears on mac desktop
- Camera stuck at Connecting...

Opening the untitled disc in finder shows nothing but the Burn icon is enabled.

The content on the disc itself is only in SD but that shouldn't matter should it? If it does . . . how do I get SD content on to the mac?

Any suggestions on what I might be missing? Connecting via USB using the Sony supplied USB cable btw.

Re: The End of my Sony HDR-UX1 / iMovie Saga

it works .. big relief .. would recommend also having Final Cut Express .. you'll need iMovie'08 to get the video in, but then you'll want to edit the 1080 Quicktime files in FCE if you want full quality .. iMovie '08 is fine for lesser mediums as long as you understand it is a new product and not an update

Re: The End of my Sony HDR-UX1 / iMovie Saga

Another reply to myself .. I was told yesterday (Nov. 5, 2007) by Apple that the HDR-UX1 will work in iMovie '08 as long as you have Leopard .. bought Leopard and iMovie '08 last night and will let you know ..

Re: The End of my Sony HDR-UX1 / iMovie Saga

answer to my own question the UX1 can not directly transfer to the hard drive version SR series

Re: The End of my Sony HDR-UX1 / iMovie Saga

Hi Ben - I'd like to talk with you.
